Obama trying to silence critics?

The party of free speech and political dissent is at it again in an effort to ensure the only free speech is their speech. Barack Obama's campaign is reportedly furious over the following ad linking the new messiah to a former terrorist.

"It seems they protest a bit too much," American Issues Project spokesman Christian Pinkston said. "They're going all of these routes—through threats, intimation—to try to thwart the First Amendment here because they don't have an argument on merit."

The Obama Campaign has apparently already addressed this issue in an ad attacking McCain.

This raises some interesting questions about what connection Obama has with Ayers. The Washington Post Blog addresses this by stating the only known link between Obama and Ayers is that they both served on a anti poverty group's board of directors, Ayers donated $200 to Obama's campaign, and they lived in the same neighborhood in Chicago.

So where does the allegation that Obama's political career began in Ayers'
living room coming from?

In researching this entry I have found numerous allegations that Ayers had invited people from the community to his home to introduce them to the aspiring politician, but I have no credible sources to support this. I have also read that Ayers hosted a dinner in Obama's honor which Obama attended. Again, these are things I have read but which I have no real evidence to support. If someone out there has some credible information on this topic, I would like to know about it.

What is Hillary Hiding?

The net is abuzz with people asking, "Just what does Hillary have to hide?"

From today's LA Times:

Clinton's first-lady records locked up
Archivists say the documents at her husband's presidential library won't be released until after the '08 vote.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton cites her experience as a compelling reason voters should make her president, but nearly 2 million pages of documents covering her White House years are locked up in a building here, obscuring a large swath of her record as first lady.

Clinton's calendars, appointment logs and memos are stored at her husband's presidential library, in the custody of federal archivists who do not expect them to be released until after the 2008 presidential election.

A trove of records has been made public detailing the Clinton White House's attempts to remake the nation's healthcare system, following a request from Bill Clinton that those materials be released first. Hillary Clinton led the healthcare effort in 1993 and 1994.

But even in the healthcare documents, at least 1,000 pages involving her work has been censored by archives staff because they include confidential advice and must be kept secret under a federal law called the Presidential Records Act. Political consultants said that if Hillary Clinton's records were made public, rivals would mine them for scraps of information that might rattle her campaign.
Full Article.

So what is Hillary hiding in the millions of pages of records that she won't release? And which of her Democratic rivals will be first to call for their release?

I understand perfectly the need to protect the privacy of our citizens, and especially former first ladies; however, their privacy should be respected BECAUSE they are still ordinary citizens. When they decide to run for office, then these records become vital to the decision making process of the electorate. The voters should NOT be kept in the dark.

McCain in Troubled Waters

I could have predicted McCain's eventual fall from the top-runners, and I all but gaurenteed that he wouldn't get the Republican nomination, but I never would have guessed that Liberal Republican Moonbat Ron Paul would be ahead of McCain in the fundraising department:
Ron Paul says he has more cash on hand than McCain

And then there's this:

Is McCain Falling Through the Cracks?

And this:
McCain's Prospects Look Pretty Grim

Can't say I am sad to see these developments.

Update: 7/10/07
When it rains it pours on John McCain. Just today two of McCain's aids, aware of the sinking ship, quit and left McCain's campaign team:

Barack Obama: For a Higher America

Barack Obama has openly admitted to being a "pothead" and "junkie" in his youth. His youthful indiscretions include the use of marijuana and "blow," which is a street term for cocaine. In his candid admissions of drug use, Barack Hussein Obama said, "I inhaled, frequently, that was the point."

So in honor of his youthful indiscretions, I put together a little video to raise awareness about this would-be preseident. Enjoy!

Democrat Leaders Boycott Fox News

Democrats, Fox News Channel lock horns
Associated Press

NEW YORK - Democrats running for president seem to find Fox News Channel as ripe a target as President Bush, a development with dangerous implications for both the network and the politicians.

Fox has tried twice, without success, to set up a debate with the major Democratic contenders. Both times they failed because of pressure applied by online liberal activists, who consider Fox biased toward Republicans and conservatives.

The first debate, which was to be co-sponsored by Fox and the Nevada Democratic party, had been set for this August but was canceled. Fox then teamed with the Congressional Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute for a Sept. 23 debate that is still scheduled, even though John Edwards, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton all said they won't attend.

I think that comic probably sums it up for most folks.

Coulter Cash is Money Well Spent

The primping, preening, beauty queen otherwise known as John "da Fonz" Edwards has been putting your hard earned political contributions, aka "Coulter Cash", to good use:

Edwards' haircuts cost a pretty penny
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Looking pretty is costing John Edwards' presidential campaign a lot of pennies. The Democrat's campaign committee picked up the tab for two haircuts at $400 each by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva of Beverly Hills, Calif., according to a financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

FEC records show Edwards also availed himself of $250 in services from a trendy salon and spa in Dubuque, Iowa, and $225 in services from the Pink Sapphire in Manchester, N.H., which is described on its Web site as "a unique boutique for the mind, body and face" that caters mostly to women.

It is money well spent... he is soooo pretty

So pretty...

Democrats, please.... please keep giving this man your hard earned money. He wants to run for President; but more importantly, he wants to look good doing it.

UPDATE:
Awwww, the Coulter Cash is no longer helping make John pretty.

Edwards Pays Homage to Silly Frenchman

Global Warming is a hot topic here at A Perfect Contradiction. Since it is literally freezing today (mid April), and all of the spring flowers have pretty much died from the cold, I thought today would be a good day to review a global warming story I covered back in Feb...

Chirac Threatens U.S. with Trade Sanctions
The self-proclaimed President of the European Union, Jaques Chiraq, the actual President of France - the self-proclaimed capital of the European Union - has recently given the United States an ultimatum: Sign on to the Kyoto protocol or else!

"A carbon tax is inevitable," Chirac is quoted as saying in in the NYT's on Feb 2, 2007, "the countries that do not accept the minimum obligations will be obliged to pay."

This is not an idle threat. The European Union represents the strongest collective economic block in the world. According to wiki (I know, I know... take it with a grain of salt)

The European Union is the largest political and economic entity on the European continent, with around 500 million people and an estimated GDP of US$13.4 trillion (1st in the World if ranked).

The theory behind the EU is something like: Alone vie are tineey and stupeeed, but togetharr we are POWERFUL ... and stupeeed.

The United States will probably be forced into a similar alliance with Mexico and Canada in order to remain competitive in the world economy in the next 25 years or so... but back to Chirac.

The self-proclaimed president of the EU makes a frightening point... that a "carbon" tax is likely to become a reality. There is no real reason for this: Global warming is bogus; however, as long as scientists are given awards and grants for claiming Global warming is real, politicians will be able to use scare tactics in order to gain more of their two favorite things: money and power. In this case, France is trying to use the EU to gain more money and power.

The United States is the world economic superpower. The EU is working to knock the US off this position and to keep America from regaining this title. Global warming is as convenient a justification for tearing down free trade than any other. The EU, in a guise of being a friend to the planet, simply taxes the United States as punishment for our alleged transgressions. We are forced to choose between signing onto a treaty that would cripple our economy, which would help make the EU the world economic superpower, or face economic sanctions, which would help make the EU the world economic superpower.

Keep Chirac in mind next time you go shopping for perfume, wine, cosmetics, etc.

I bolded the relevant section. Back in February, I expressed concern over a possible carbon tax. Chirac said it all when he said, "A carbon tax is inevitable," and I explained it all when I said, "as long as scientists are given awards and grants for claiming Global warming is real, politicians will be able to use scare tactics in order to gain more of their two favorite things: money and power."

This past week the inevitable took one step closer to becoming reality when John Edwards decided that if he becomes President the carbon tax will become a reality.

Edwards proposes greenhouse gas plan
FORT MYERS, Fla. - America should charge industry for creating greenhouse gases to generate money for investing in clean technology, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said Saturday.

"People ought to have to pay that want to generate greenhouse gases," Edwards said at a global warming rally that was part of a nationwide day of demonstrations.

Edwards said charging polluters could generate up to $40 billion to invest in clean technology to "get us off our addiction to oil." He also said the United States should ban the construction of new coal-fired power plants.

Edwards pulled this one right out of Chirac's playbook. I actually think Edwards has a fairly good chance of getting the Democratic nod, but even if he doesn't, the cat is already out of the bag. He is going to run on this policy, it will gain traction with the enviro-idiots, and pretty soon all of the Dem candidates will be spouting that plan. Great, my worst nightmares are officially starting to happen. Wonderful.

Lest anyone who comes across this post thinks that creating a new tax is the solution to anything:

First, "man made" global warming is a THEORY that HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN!!!!

Second, a planet that is a few degrees warmer IS A GOOD THING!!! (Longer crop cycles = greater prosperity for all mankind)

Third, the "Evil Corporations" will not end up paying one red cent. The "Evil Corporations" will simply raise prices to keep their profit margins in place. This means that a tax on the "Evil Corporations" is really just a hidden tax on your stupid tree hugging @$$es when you pay for the goods and services the "Evil Corporations" provide.

Fourth, this new tax will NOT help fund research. This new tax will simply go into the general fund. From that fund, congress can earmark funds to go to research, but congress does not and will not 1) keep track of how much they are collecting from the carbon tax and 2) ensure that such funds are appropriately dolled out.

Fifth, watch this movie. If you still think global warming is the sort of problem that requires a "carbon tax" to solve it, then there is nothing more I have to say to you except enjoy your koolade, nutjob.

Br'er McCain and the Tar Baby

Looks like Br'er McCain has got himself into a sticky situation:

McCain regrets use of term 'tar baby'
By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer

RINO

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Republican presidential contender John McCain on Friday used the term "tar baby," considered by some a racial epithet, and later said he regretted it.
Read the article.

No word on whether Jessie Jackson has been reached to schedule an apology:

I just don't like McCain.

To his credit, at least he didn't say something stupid like, Obama is the first clean, intelligent, articulate black man. Let's hope that the Biden effect takes hold and McCain disappears from the polls.

I have already decided that I am backing Giuliani for the Republican nod. I have also decided that the only possible running mate that I think Giuliani should consider is Newt Gingrich. He would balance out the ticket and make winning the White House a cake walk.

Interesting Hillary Pic: The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy at Work

Believe it or not, this pic is real:

Looks like she is flicking us off, right? (h/t)

Amazingly, the "Related" news story listed by Yahoo is "Clinton: Right-wing conspiracy is back"

Is this irony or just an amazing coincidence?

In the related story we learn that on Tuesday (March 13, 2007) Hillary said, "To the New Hampshire Democratic Party's credit, they sued and the trail led all the way to the Republican National Committee. So if anybody tells you there is no vast, right-wing conspiracy, tell them that New Hampshire has proven it in court"

Hillary was alluding to an incident where some Republicans in New Hampshire, in what was clearly a dirty trick, jammed phones to disturb a Democratic "get out the vote" effort.

I suppose using Hillary's logic (woops... now there is an oxymoron if ever I saw one) that when Acorn (an extremely liberal, 100% democrat supporting group) paid an Ohio man in "crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey" that this must, by analogy, be proof of a "vast left wing conspiracy."(Source.) Why would a Democrat front group go out and register dead people as Democrats?

Or when Democrats pay homeless people with cigarettes to vote Democrat. Would this help evidence a vast left wing conspiracy?

Why is there only ever talk of a vast right wing conspiracy?

Maybe it is because only moonbats subscribe to vast conspiracies of any sort.

Edwards: Jesus would be 'appalled' at US selfishness

Incase you missed this story last week:

Edwards: Jesus would be ‘appalled’ by U.S
Associated Press

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Multimillionaire Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards says Jesus would be “appalled” at how the United States has ignored the plight of those suffering around the world.

Edwards, who was recently criticized by his neighbors in North Carolina for building a monstrous estate reportedly covering 102 acres of land, said in an interview with the Web site Beliefnet.com that Jesus would be most upset with the selfishness of Americans and the country’s willingness to go to war “when it’s not necessary.”

“I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs,” Edwards told the site. “I think he would be appalled, actually.”

NEWSFLASH: Hey Liberals: paying an accountant to figure out the way to pay the least in taxes, and then paying those taxes IS NOT CHARITY!!!!

I love when these elitist limousine liberals talk about how awful the plebian class is in America, how WE ALL ought to be giving more, and how taxes, in general, just aren't high enough. Maybe when you are as rich as they are and have so much that it is cheaper to pay a team of accountants to figure out how not to pay your taxes - when in reality they have so much they could just write the check and not even feel it. They want to raise taxes on those of us who don't "save" by hiring accountants while they figure out creative ways to screw Uncle Sam.

Then they have the audacity to say they don't need a tax cut (how many of them gave the money back though?) and that taxes aren't high enough. They have the audacity to think that they are charitable because they want to raise OUR taxes and make us adopt THEIR social welfare programs.

Hey John, if you want to give back to the community, why not open up your brand new mansion to the homeless? Why not make it a woman's shelter, or let some poor inner city kids move in with you so they can go to a good school. THAT is charity, not raising taxes on everyone else.

Obama Facing Questions Re: Investments

Obama faces questions on his blind trust
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) said Wednesday he was not aware he had invested in two companies backed by some of his top donors and said he had done nothing to aid their business with the government.

The Illinois senator faced questions about more than $50,000 in investments he made right after taking office in 2005 in two speculative companies, AVI Biopharma and Skyterra Communications. Obama said his broker bought the stocks as part of a quasi-blind trust in which he was not consulted when trades were made.

...

Obama purchased $5,000 in shares for AVI, which was developing a drug to treat avian flu. Two weeks after buying the stock, as the disease was spreading in Asia, Obama pushed for more federal funding to fight the disease, but he said he did not discuss the matter with any company officials.

A Perfect Contradiction: I'm Officially Backing Rudy

I have made a decision with regard to the Republican candidate I am going to back throughout the primaries.

I have decided to back the highly electable, yet decidedly imperfect, Rudy Giuliani.

This was a tough decision. Ideally the Republicans could have a candidate who holds every single conservative platform, is a strong, effective, well spoken candidate, and who is universally loved. Since no candidate seems to fit that bill, I have decided to pick the candidate who I trust most on my number one issue (the war on terror).

Rudy has a stellar record to fall back on. Aside from his leadership after the attacks of 9/11, during his tenure as Mayor of NYC, he cut crime rates in half, cleaned up a dirty, dirty city, implemented policies which reduced dependence on welfare, cut taxes, turned a multi-billion dollar deficit into a multi-billion dollar surplus, and he accomplished all of this in a city where Democrats outnumbered Republicans 5 to 1.

There is no candidate that polls better than him in a head to head race. He is the Republican's best shot of retaining the White House in 08, and the best hope for continuing the war against Islamo-fascism (the war on terror).

The only other Republican candidate I really like is Newt Gingrich, but I'm not sure he can win. Right now he is polling in the single digits, nationally, and in head to head match ups with Democrats he doesn't look particularly strong. I think Newt would be a fine President, and if he gets the nomination I will certainly back him, but for now I am backing Rudy all the way to the White House.

Slash Burn, When Will They Learn?

vs

'Slash and burn' row as Clinton, Obama trade shots
Stephen Collinson

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The 2008 Democratic presidential race took a sharp, nasty turn with Hillary Clinton's camp ripping into rising star rival Barack Obama as he savored a million-dollar Hollywood debut.

...

heheheThe flap erupted hours after director Steven Spielberg and stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Eddie Murphy reportedly helped Tinseltown glitterati raise more than 1.3 million dollars for Obama's White House bid.

With tensions rising 11 months before the first party nominating contests, the row centered on a New York Times column Wednesday, in which Geffen was quoted as branding Senator Clinton overly ambitious and "polarizing."

...

"By refusing to disavow the personal attacks from his biggest fundraiser against Senator Clinton and President Clinton, Senator Obama has called into serious question whether he really believes his own rhetoric," Hillary Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson said in a statement.

"How can Senator Obama denounce the politics of slash and burn yesterday while his own campaign is espousing the politics of trash today?" Wolfson said.

Clinton herself, at a Democratic Party candidates forum in the western state of Nevada, sought the political high ground.

"I want to run a very positive campaign, I sure don't want Democrats or supporters of Democrats to be engaging in the politics of personal destruction," she said when asked about the controversy.

...

"It is ironic that the Clintons had no problem with David Geffen when he was raising them 18 million dollars and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom."

...

Geffen was quoted by Times columnist Maureen Dowd as doubting Clinton's capacity to bring Americans together.

"I don't think that another incredibly polarizing figure, no matter how smart she is, and no matter how ambitious she is -- and God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton? -- can bring the country together."

And in another shot at the former first couple, Geffen told the Times: "Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it's troubling."

"I don't think anybody believes that in the last six years, all of a sudden Bill Clinton has become a different person," Geffen was quoted as saying of the former president impeached over an affair with a White House intern.

Analysis: Early bumps trip Clinton camp

NEW YORK - A Hollywood-style brawl with the campaign of rival Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) is the latest in a series of speed bumps tripping up Hillary Rodham Clinton's early presidential moves.

From the Clinton team's decision to criticize — and therefore publicize — producer David Geffen's complaints about both Clintons to increasingly skeptical questions about Sen. Clinton's nuanced explanation of her 2002 vote authorizing the Iraq war, it became apparent even a battle-tested front-runner can fall prey to missteps.

Hillary's Plan to Defeat Obama

She will simply buy the black vote.

Looking in the wayback machine, we see that Hillary bought off a prominent Black leader in SC, a Congressman who has accepted a $10,000 a month "consulting" contract to deliver the black vote in South Carolina.

Now she is promising aid for minority students:

Clinton seeks aid for minority students
AP

...

"This achievement gap is deeply troubling to me," Clinton said. "If we don't invest in our children, our society and our economy will decline. This is not just something nice to do, this is something that we have to do."

Clinton, a New York senator and former first lady, spoke and took questions for an hour from the mostly black audience of 300 in the Liberty City neighborhood. The event was sandwiched between fundraisers in Tampa, Miami and Hollywood that were closed to the press.

...

"She's showing us, 'Look, the black community has been a major supporter and I want to keep you as a major supporter.' It's a clear message. I don't think it was subtle,"

Meanwhile,
Clinton defends consulting contract
JIM DAVENPORT, Associated Press Writer

FLORENCE, S.C. - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday denied that her campaign traded money for an endorsement from one of South Carolina's most influential black politicians.

Right, I mean sure, it LOOKS like she is buying the black vote, but really, this is all very innocent, she isn't afraid of Obama, or anything, right?

Notice how the people she cares most about (prominent black congressmen who can deliver the black vote) get real money - her money - while the people she cares less about (people who cannot deliver more than their one vote) get only promises of money - federal money.

Here is on for you Rummy Supporters

I love Donald Rumsfeld. A lot of people give me really strange looks when I say that, but I really wish more people were like him. I truly believe the reason he is so hated on the left is because the left fears him. He is incredibly intelligent, well-spoken, and can cut through liberal BS with a tenacity even Limbaugh could only hope to aspire to.

As much as I love Donald Rumsfeld, I dislike McCain; so this story really riles me up:

McCain: Rumsfeld was one of the worst
BRUCE SMITH, Associated Press Writer

Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will be remembered as one of the worst in history.

"We are paying a very heavy price for the mismanagement — that's the kindest word I can give you — of Donald Rumsfeld, of this war," the Arizona senator told an overflow crowd of more than 800 at a retirement community near Hilton Head Island, S.C. "The price is very, very heavy and I regret it enormously."

McCain, the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, complained that Rumsfeld never put enough troops on the ground to succeed in Iraq.

"I think that Donald Rumsfeld will go down in history as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history," McCain said to applause.

The comments were in sharp contrast to McCain's statement when Rumsfeld resigned in November, and failed to address the reality that President Bush is the commander in chief.

"While Secretary Rumsfeld and I have had our differences, he deserves Americans' respect and gratitude for his many years of public service," McCain said last year when Rumsfeld stepped down.

McCain is such a phony. Good luck running to the right you RINO. You won't get the nod, so just save your money and get behind someone who can win. Who knows, maybe you will get a shot at a VP seat. (Not likely).

Edwards Urges "Smarter" Approach

Edwards urges direct talks with Iran
TODD DVORAK, Associated Press Writer

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards criticized the Bush administration on Sunday for failing to engage directly with Iran to resolve problems with the Iraq war and Iran's effort to develop nuclear weapons.

"It's a huge strategic mistake not to be dealing directly with Iran," Edwards told the Associated Press in an interview before a campaign event in Dubuque.

"What we should be doing with Iran, both on the Iraq issue and the nuclear issue, is being much smarter than we're being now. We have tools available to us to engage them."

You see... international diplomacy can be tricky. When dealing with an islamo-fascist state like Iran (a country hell bent on acquiring nuclear weapons with which to wipe Isreal and the United States off the map), sanctions and the threat of military invasion are basically ineffectual. You need a smarter, more nuanced appraoch. To defeat Iran you need to use "tools" - like Edwards - and "talk" at them.

Simple, see. All you need to do is talk at them and they will crumble before us. Sheesh, why didn't Bush think of that! Edwards is a shoo-in in '08.

Is it just me or is Edwards "smarter" plan of "talking to Iran" an aweful lot like Kerry's "smarter" plan.

Obama: A Black Man Can Be President, Ford: Yeah But Not You

ObamaObama: U.S. ready for black president
AP - White House hopeful Barack Obama, taking a fellow black lawmaker to task, said Saturday voters are ready to elect a black president.
..

Obama responded to comments this past week by Democratic state Sen. Robert Ford of Charleston, who helped mobilize black voters for former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards in 2004, but has switched to Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 presidential race.

Ford said Tuesday that Obama, a first-term senator, has much to prove. "The media made this guy bigger than life," Ford said. "This guy isn't tested and they made him a rock star."

Ford said one reason he was supporting Clinton, the New York senator, is that he is skeptical Obama can win the presidency and worries his nomination could hurt other Democratic candidates.

"Every Democrat running on that ticket next year would lose — because he's black and he's top of the ticket. We'd lose the House and the Senate and the governors and everything," Ford said.

Looks like I am in agreement with two Democrats. Obama is right: a black man can be President in America. And Ford is right: if Obama is on top of the ticket, Democrats will lose it all in '08. I pontificate why Obama cannot winhere in great detail.
